The charity was originally registered as FibroAwareness UK back in 2011, by our director Lindsay Gibbs. Lindsay suffers from fibromyalgia herself and wanted to make a real difference to others. She started by setting up a regular support group in South London and our charity has grown ever since. We are still a small team of volunteers, but with a big mission! Most of our team are fibromyalgia sufferers
Recently, we decided to rebrand to Fibromyalgia Awareness UK (also referred to as FAUK) to raise more awareness.
Our aims are:
- To raise awareness of the illness through fun days and events
- To set up a regular support group for adults who suffer with fibromyalgia
- To support sufferers, friends and family through networking events and free information, advice and support
We are also pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Fibromyalgia Action UK (FMA UK) for a wider reach. We work together to raise more awareness for fibromyalgia, particularly with medical professionals and family members of sufferers. FMA UK have a wide range of medical information available on their website. If you’d like to chat, then please contact FMA UK’s helpline who offer a national helpline and a benefits helpline.
